Committee Member
Generally, a Committee member is responsible for contributing to the collective decision making of the Committee and helping to govern and oversee the Branch’s activities. A member is generally unable to make decisions for the organisation independently of other Committee members.
Primary responsibilities of a Committee Member include:
- Regularly attend Committee meetings and important related meetings and attend the Annual General Meeting.
- Make a serious commitment to participate actively in committee work and to attend and support Branch events.
- Volunteer and willingly accept actions and complete them thoroughly and on time.
- Stay informed about committee matters, prepare themselves well for meetings, and review and comment on reports and minutes.
- Be an active participant in the committee’s annual evaluation and planning efforts.
- Participate in actively promoting the organisation and supporting its objectives and aims.
- Provide advice, opinions and independent judgement to inform Committee decisions.
- Declare and monitor actual or perceived conflicts of interest, and
- Govern and oversee the Branch’s operations and activities.
